Rick and Candi built a band program at Delphi that has never been matched. The bands grew with students who would never have been involved in music without the Granlunds encouragement. We miss them terribly but are so pleased and not surprised at the success he is enjoying at North Central. Music is such a key part of successful students and the Granlunds are integral components of bringing into the students’ lives. All Hail to Rick and Candi Granlund. A great interview, Rick.
I met Rick at the Bands of America Summer Symposium several years ago when he was at Perry Meridian. It was right about the time his daughter was taking her first steps and he was sad he couldn’t be at home with his family. I admired his commitment to his job to be there learning but at the same time his longing to be with family. I’m not sure if he remembers that fact or not but it has stood out to me over all these years. Very dedicated teacher and father! Its great to see all the success he and his students have achieved!
